Atelier Louis is proud to once again present two South African artists, PHULANI LIEBENBERG and JANKO DE BEER.

Phulani, born in 1976, is self-taught and concentrates on portraits. She always tries to create emotion through the eyes, because she herself is emotionally driven and believes that we are connected to each other through our eyes.

All her works are ‘oil on canvas’. She takes four or five different photographs and then makes up a face in which she wants to bring out emotion, very detailed and with striking eyes. She will be exhibiting for the first time in Belgium at Atelier Louis and with more than ten works.

Janko, born in 1980, grew up in a very creative family. He was inspired by the many visits to artists’ studios and by talented painters in his family.

He began his career with sculpture, but meanwhile he also paints. Atelier Louis presents his ‘sculptures’. Found materials such as kelp, coral, bones, … are combined by him with conventional sculpting methods to create the works. Janko’s work has been featured in many international exhibitions and he was a finalist for a Global Art Award twice. For Belgium, Atelier Louis has the scoop with more than ten sculptures and a surprise!

VERNISSAGE on March 11 from 6:30 p.m. to midnight. Exhibition runs through March 27. On Friday 25 March there is free admission from 7 pm to 10:30 pm, on Saturday 26 March there is free admission from 4:30pm to 10 pm and on Sunday 27 March you can also walk in without registration from 1 pm to 5 pm.
