About this work
The story behind this work
Abraham refers to the repeated brushstrokes in her paintings and drawings as ‘ghosts’. A metaphor for the spectre of trauma and its haunting of memory. These ‘ghosts’ are counted and numbered with reference to the Kabbalah. Focusing on specific numbers associated with the alphanumeric system within Kabbalah called Gematria as the underlying structure of the composition, she allows the formations of the work to unfold.
